Frequently Asked Questions About Activation
With activation, can I still install my software on multiple computers?
Yes. During the activation process, you are asked to choose an activation type for your Individual or Group license. The Stand-Alone Named User activation type lets you activate software on multiple computers for use by a single license end user. Choose this activation type to activate your software on multiple computers.
How does activation impact my FLEXnet® server?
The activation process has no impact on your FLEXnet® network license server. The activation process for Network Named User and Concurrent license options remains the same; you activate the FLEXnet server by manually submitting the server host ID to The MathWorks and retrieving your License File through your MathWorks Account. The client machines that access the FLEXnet server do not require activation.
How do I activate offline?
You activate software on a computer that is not connected to the Internet by using the License Center. On a computer with an Internet connection, you use the License Center to provide the necessary information for your activation type and either download or e-mail the License File for transfer to the computer where the software will run. If you do not have access to a computer with an Internet connection, contact Customer Support.
Which license options require activation?
The activation process applies to Individual and Group license options. Network Named User and Concurrent license options that use the FLEXnet license server have always required activation of the sever. These license options continue to require activation of the server, but not the client machines. Total Academic Headcount (TAH) and Total Engineering Headcount (TEH) license options also require some form of activation. Contact your sales representative for more information about activating TAH and TEH license options.
